We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in navigating the complex legal landscape of web3 technologies and digital asset laws and regulations. As a Senior Legal Counsel at Polymer Labs, you will be responsible for providing legal guidance on matters related to financial services, digital asset laws and regulations, legal strategy and leadership, as well as tokenomics and DAO formation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee a legal strategy aligned with company objectives.
- Oversee internal compliance efforts, including employment agreements, equity grants, and other critical documentation.
- Analyze potential legal, compliance and regulatory risks and requirements on a broad range of legal areas, including intellectual property, privacy, consumer product, and security.
- Oversee and manage for-profit and nonprofit entity structures, Ensuring the company operates in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Utilize your deep understanding of the Web3 ecosystem, blockchain technology, digital assets, and decentralized applications to guide legal decisions.
- Offer expert guidance on tokenomics and decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) formation.
- Stay updated on the ever-changing compliance and regulatory environment, especially in the context of cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and decentralized applications, to develop strategies to navigate global regulatory challenges effectively.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to establish governance frameworks, manage risks, and handle legal considerations specific to each entity type.
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing and Growth teams, offering legal support for partnership agreements and vendor contracts.
- Negotiate, draft, and review agreements to safeguard the company's interests.
Qualifications
- A results-driven, passionate, and fully qualified attorney admitted to practice in the US.
- 6+ years of experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in a financial services-related industry or other complex regulatory environment.
- Strong negotiation capabilities and processes.
- Great communication skills, particularly to effectively advise, align with, and build trust with the product team and other business partners.
- Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage, and rapidly evolving environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of precision.
